Evidence 2.1 Packaging Design Unit

When compiling the Multiple Intelligences (MI) for my Instructional Unit, Packaging Design, I was excited that my Art content area would lend itself to every one of the intelligences in Thomas Armstrong's book on the subject.

I could apply design concepts and creativity to all from Logical-Mathematical to Bodily-Kinesthetic to Naturalist. For example, my Unit encompasses learning that packaging will be analyzed and measured for sizes, volume, weights and proper materials - all functional knowledge that ties in perfectly with a Logical-Mathematical student's problem solving and Mathematic curriculum! It continues by addressing physical attributes of shape, form, and the function of design that challenges the Bodily-Kinesthetic and Spatial student to touch, analyze, and visualize. The Naturalist and the Interpersonal student will discover how packaging affects the environment and how we work as a community to address recycling issues. The MI portion of the Unit became the most exciting as my understanding of how each of the different intelligences uses so many different teaching strategies.
